State Foundation Backs Social Media Courses

The Hawaii State Foundation on Culture and the Arts is backing a series of workshops for Pacific New Media at the University of Hawaii.

Tara CoomansTara Coomans (@taracoomans), president of the Hawaii chapter of the international Social Media Club, has a session next week titled “Social Media Primer,” and costs $55. It will be held Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Krauss Hall, Room 012. The description reads:

What is social media and why is everyone saying its revolutionized communication? Who is really using these tools (the answers may surprise you!) and what are practical uses for our live and business? This is a great introduction to social media, if you`re just starting out or curious about whether social media is right for your business.

In October, Gwendolyn Wotz (@gjwahine) and Karen Weikert (@karenweikert) will lead a workshop titled “Doing Business Socially on Facebook.” It costs $55, and will be held on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. to noon in Kuykendall Hall room 303:
